Analysis/Discussion: Does anybody realize that thus far in 2008 the U.S. has had over 600,000 people lose their jobs? Or is this all just news to be brushed under the rugs of your wonderful $500k homes?
Seriously, we’re closing in on 1 million jobs hitting the dust… meaning people’s families, children, savings, food, shelter, travel expenses, etc. Yeah man, this shyt is getting real, REAL quick. I’m looking at this as a wake-up call to this nation and people everywhere. You gotta prepare your life for the unfortunate. Especially when the writing is on the wall. If you see tens of THOUSANDS of jobs lost in January, it would be foolish to be so naive and think “oh, well that’s ‘those’ people who lost jobs, I’ll be perfectly fine in February”. In many cases though, it was true, they DID indeed keep their jobs in February. Only to be laid-off the following June.
It’s a very tough time for the majority of Americans right now. Simply b/c the day-to-day struggle is NOT like what you see on TV. For us working-class Americans, we must decide on the weekly basis whether to buy food or pay utilities on time. It’s eating away at our families at a rapid pace. Something has to give.
In a quote, “Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has called for a second round of government stimulus, while his GOP rival John McCain has favored free-trade and other business measures to spur the economy.”, my question is why not BOTH? This is a crisis situation, my suggestion is to try and remedy the situation as quickly as possible, before MORE problems arise from this. Things like a health crisis, decline in quality education for children due to anxiety & hunger, rise in crime due to people needing money and straight up frustration. Well, I’ll let you check it out for yourself at this point.
